About MckLinky

MckLinky was created by Brent Riggs and encouraged by MckMama.

MckLinky was born from need. There was a time when there was only one "linky" service available and it wasn't exactly Mr. Reliable.

As I (Brent Riggs), thought about using link lists on my own blogs, I did not want to rely on a service that had a growing history of being unreliable or unavailable. So as a programmer, I simply decided to create my own linky system to use privately.

Over time, others asked me about being able to use my system. I asked Jennifer aka "MckMama" (no I'm not giving anything anyway, her name is public knowledge), if she was ready for a new "linky", and she said "definitely". As we were thinking about names, I was already considering "McLinky" as "McDonald's" because the "Mc" is kind of an American icon.

The obvious was a takeoff on "MckMama", a mutual benefit since I would do the work, and Jennifer would help me kickstart the whole thing by launching it on her blog... so MckLinky it was.

We discussed the best and worst aspects of how linky lists should work and planned to create a simple, reliable system of tools that would that include the easiest and most useful features.

I, Brent, launched MckLinky as a free service offering the BASIC MckLinky in July 2009. It's been growing wildly ever since.

Only because I get tired of the gossip, let me state plainly, that no, MckMama and MckLinky have no business, financial or otherwise professional arrangement. Not that it would matter if we did. What I've said on this page, is what it is. In the famous words of Forrest Gump "that's all I have to say about that."
